I escaped Christmas shopping for an hour or two this morning, taking a spin out to the allotment despite the rain and wind.  Five layers of clothes, boots, mud sticking on the walk up from the car to the plot.  I took refuge in the polytunnel and potted on last year’s three Christmas cacti, and a tiny Christmas tree my sister bought in Tesco for her desk last Christmas.  Green decorations for the house, to take the edge off all the glitz and glitter.

The weather took a five minute break, long enough to pick some broccoli and sow a head of garlic in a gap in the onion bed.  I think the variety is called Christo – I sowed some back at the end of October and it’s doing really well so far.

That was about all – home again for tea and toast.
